Philip Rush on a foggy mountain side

Concluding Words

Poetry, like all literature, is for sharing. But, unlike much prose, poetry is best appreciated when read out loud. I greatly enjoy sharing my poems with others, and having others share their poetry with me. I do much work in schools, especially Primary Schools, and do my utmost to instil a love of literature, and poetry particulaly, to as many students as possible.

I know my poetry to many of the 'literati' may seem primitive, being both metrical and rhyming. I am impressed by those who write poetry well in a different style, or genre, to me, but I can only write rhe best way I know, and the way I enjoy.

Many kind people have contacted me over the years, asking if they can use various poems in their lectures, churches, voluntary activities, concerts, competitions, and newsletters, etc. This type of contact I find rewarding, for my thoughts and experiences have been appreciated by others.

I believe that poetry, and Australian poetry in particular, is undergoing a 'mini-revival'. There seems to be more people responding to poetry, and a greater demand for performing poets throughout the nation. Why this is, I am unsure, but it is heartening.

The response to my poetry has been most encouraging, and the vast majority of respondents comment on their ability to relate to the thoughts, experiences, situations, and humour in the poems. This is sufficient reward in itself, but the financial advantages of selling large number of books also helps!!

If you wish to correspond with me on matters poetic, or on subjects covered by any of my poems, I would be very happy to hear from you - my address is listed above.

Thank you for taking the time to share in this web-page,

Happy reading!
